Who we are

The idea of bringing theater techniques and companies together on the physical and business stage was the inspiration and passion that Cordula Beelitz-Frank and Carl Philip von Maldeghem developed in 2002 into their brilliant training concept “management-by-shakespeare” (mbys).

The company’s name was influenced, in particular, by Shakespeare’s works which mainly focus on personality development and leadership qualities. These ideas still form the framework for mbys concepts today.

Right from day one, we could see and feel the enthusiasm and excitement that mbys training sessions generated among executives. The concept of working with experienced actors on real stages while training one’s personality to be able to act and lead more strongly by truly showing and emphasizing one’s own authenticity is exciting and powerful. This experience has made the mbys program unique from the very beginning.

The company “management-by-shakespeare” was founded in 2009 and grew out of a training concept which had its home at the “Altes Schauspielhaus” (The Old Theater) in Stuttgart, Germany.  In the meantime, mbys has grown into a flourishing business bookable both in Germany and abroad. Our network of stages and experienced actor-trainers is large and reaches far beyond Germany’s borders.

At the beginning of 2023, the two mbys founders withdrew from operational business and entrusted management-by-shakespeare to me: “Sabine Benken has tremendous experience in organizational and company development with expertise in event management and corporate communications. She is therefore ideally placed to lead management-by-shakespeare into the future”, according to the company founders.
